The other day, on my way home from work at Kyobashi station in Osaka, I saw a Kaisoku train(Rapid train) stopping over at the train track so I ran to the train and made it.
While I was feeling out of breath from the dash, I saw this guy who was also in the ran-and-safe group with me, standing between the doors on the train. Surprisingly what I saw was that he was placing his right hand on one of the doors on the train and his left foot on the other door both automatically closing. He was pushing back the doors so hardly to prevent them from closing. His face is fully red. I seriously thought he would be completely caught in the door. Even more surprisingly he waves to the others who are still running towards the train to get on. I’m sure he wanted to help those people by letting them come in since we all know the rapid trains don’t come frequently especially at night time.
However, apart from the sympathy we might have for people who’d missed their trains, what he did was that he stopped JR train for more than 5 minutes. It might be nothing for non-Japanese people in foreign countries (I don’t think trains would come on time outside of Japan) but it is a big deal for Japanese.
There was a big JR train tragedy in Amagasaki, Hyogo prefecture on April 25 this year.
A fully packed train in the morning jumped the tracks at a sharp curb, the front car slammed into a first floor of an apartment building nearby. More than hundred people died and 450 people got injured. There are so many reasons and the causes are not being solved even now but one of the facts and causes of the accident is that the train was behind the schedule. The driver was exceeding the train speed in order to try to catch up the schedule.
It’s been a while since the accident happened this year but it was not surely a long time ago.And this stupid weirdo reminded me of the accident and I got a strange feeling.
First I thought the guy was trying to be helpful and nice to people. I was even impressed a bit. But while I was on the train thinking about him I realized that I was wrong.
1. He was not being asked to help to have them get in the train.
2. He is not a JR employee
3. He is not a spider man or a superman to help people.
4. He is not handsome at all anyways.
5. He reminded me of the terrible JR accident.
6. He delayed the(my) train.
Therefore I came to my conclusion that he is just a jerk.
Oh and by the way, he himself didn’t get on the train at Kyobashi station.
What a strange guy.
